Ozzfest '05
Glen Hellen Pavilion, So. Cal.
This years event, like last
year, had some major issues. The dead grass and dirt, fires, trash everywhere
and security was again run out of the venue. Last year the security guards were
being complete assholes and were beat down. From my point of view I think a few
of them deserved it. One had his collar bone broken, which I didn't think he
deserved that much, which I hope sent a message to the heads of security. This
message should have been 1) stop being dickheads 2) pick up the fucking trash.
They partially got the clue on #1 however I don't think they'll ever figure out
the trash part. The main reason I went to Ozzfest this year was Iron Maiden.
During their set the sound kept shutting off and someone was throwing eggs at
the lead singer. After their set Sharon came out, announced who she was and said
a few things. She first off thanked the crew of Iron Maiden for being such great
people then the band. Next blatherings were "but that lead singer is a fucking
prick. He's been disrespecting the Ozzfest family and Ozzy the entire tour." I
don't think she's pure herself and never disrespected anyone, plus that was
completely un-professional and only made her look like an idiot. It was at this
point that I believe the eggs and the sound cutting out were completely planned
and no matter who says what to me, I'll never change my mind on this. Even
though I get my tickets free, I don't think I'll be going to another Ozzfest
again. Several main reasons I say this are: 1) Sharon's mouth 2)Black Sabbath is
finished 3) the fucking burning trash 4) security 5) the painted titties now
have to be covered with tape 6) no camera policy sucks ass! I seriously don't
think Sharon knows how many people showed up only because of Iron Maiden this
year. I asked over 50 people who they were there to see and Maiden was 80% of
the response. Ozzfest makes a lot of money off me through beer, food and other
B.S. little sales. For me to return in '06 there had better be some serious
changes including a major name band that has not played there before.
