Thanks Page.
This is where I get all mushy and say thanks to everyone that's helped me in
any way over the years.
My host: Vincent at
http://www.wwsolutions.org.uk for the service and assistance (even when I
kill my site by accident). The rates are low, packages decent and importantly, he is online all the time and helpful.
Every now and then Vincent sometimes runs a special on e-bay for a year of
hosting starting at UK£2, no additional fees, monthly maintenance or any other
B.S. you would expect at that price either. Just straight forward quality
hosting.
Web help: Andrew at
www.andrewhopkins.com/webdesign for showing me how to set up the first site and for
help when I had questions or screwed something up.
Venues: (in order of physical placement on Sunset Strip) Key Club for access passes to photograph the bands. Special thanks to Whisky A Go-Go
for all the help and knowledge passed on from the manager (Tisa), the sound
engineers, video crew, ticket window, the bouncers (thanks for beating me up!
Just kidding!) and anyone I may have missed. The house of blues who's security
blunder allowed me to sneak in a camera (and some idiot who brought a gun and
shot someone!) that was a highlight night. That night I was supposed to be
backstage where and when the shooting took place however due to an injury I was
upstairs getting an ice pack when it happened. T.S.O.L. was onstage at the time and
recording that song. To hear it go to
www.truesoundsofliberty.com and
look for the 02-16-03 post with info on how to get that song. Sometimes the mp3
is there, other times it isn't. Cobalt Club for
everything. Thanks to the Hollywood Bowl for everything. I can't wait for next
season's concerts and from what I hear a re-vamped theatre, now if they'd figure
out parking that is intelligent.
Bands: Special thanks to Dillusion, Private Selection, Kittie, My
Ruin, District, D.I., D.R.I., Freak Circle, Mad Life, C.K.Y., Plain White T's, The
Bad Samaritans, WAR (yes they are still around) and Rumblefish for guest list and or all access passes and hanging out or even a
ride to a show or two. Thanks to all bands pictured here (or those who's
pictures didn't turn out) for taking the time. Thanks to
www.JenniferArroyo.com and
www.CKYMusic.com for posting some of my
pictures and the mentioning of my site sending my hits to 28,000 that month!!!
Thanks to every band who took time to hang out or let me show up at
practice or recording sessions, get in on music video recordings, or just gave me
free beer. Thanks to every band I've met for whatever I've
forgotten to post a thanks about, you know who you are! E-mail me and remind me
if I've forgotten something so I can post it. Any band who has given
away tickets, reduced the price of tickets, argued against the mandatory drink
ticket purchase or simply made sure fans were able to enter the show, you
kick-ass.
Thanks to Josh at Publicity
Whore for everything.
Record companies: Island Records for everything, Finger Records for helping out bands that weren't
even signed to you. Go-Kart Records for blasting the R.I.A.A., Road Runner Records
for guest list status on a few shows.
Fans: Any fan who has given away an extra ticket and either asked for
less than face value or didn't want anything for it.
NO THANKS to the following for being idiots above and beyond
stupidity. You truly suck in new and inventing ways, trying to bring every one
else down to your own miserable existence.
1) The idiot who brought a gun into the House Of Blues then shot someone during
an argument because his brain is incapable of higher thought.
2) The idiot who started a fight, got her boyfriend to jump in on the guy who
wasn't even trying to fight you, then stabbing him several times (yes I was a
witness to that one along with about 150 other people that night).
3) The idiot who tried to pass me on the right (on Sunset Strip) when my car is several times
faster and I could have put your dumb ass into that parked car. I bet I got your
adrenaline pumping, idiot!
4) The idiot who was stealing records from a D.J. at a club one night. Good
thing I have an excellent picture of you with the dub plate in your hands. I'm
glad we caught up with your sorry ass!!! As I understand it (01-26-04 6:30 PM
California time) the person has been banned from some clubs in
the USA, UK, Belgium and Holland. The picture was released to the public earlier
today (not by me) and those in the Drum and Bass/Junglist and the Rave Scenes
have all turned their back on him.
5) The "Good Hurt" for the light rain of fiberglass particles from your open
ceiling causing my eyes to burn and a sore throat. If you don't fix it soon, look forward to a lawsuit for being that cheap and stupid!
Hint, close the damn door, fix the ceiling, clean the place, train the sound
monkey then re-open for business.
6) The radio companies who only play what they are paid to, have fake call-ins
or choose winners based on whatever hair has grown up their asses! You are the
reason I listen to CD's I buy directly from the bands instead of your
programming. Key word "programming".
7) The music companies who screw their clients (their primary source of income)
in every way possible and in new and exciting ways! Signing a band who has the
potential to go far and sitting on them so they don't affect the record sales of
your more "important" bands is a shitty business ethic.
8) The bands that screw over their members. There are a few who have gone
through several complete member replacements (except the one who is screwing the
rest over). When you are going to join a new band, do yourself a favor and find
out why the position is open and find out the history of the personnel in the
band. You would be surprised!
9) The R.I.A.A. for threatening to sue someone who posted his knowledge of how to
stop a CD from installing it's virus on windows based computers (known as
copy-protection). This is general knowledge available to the public via books
with information on the windows operating system. This virus sets itself up on your computer making it impossible
to play the CD on your own computer. Are you going to sue Microsoft for having
the set-up to allow users to hold the shift key while inserting the CD so the
auto-run virus is missed? You should sue Microsoft for having the ability to
custom set what you want it to do when you insert different media while you are
at it. Maybe you should sue the Linux writers for not having auto-run. Maybe you
will eventually just cut out the middle man and just sue anyone who buys your
CD's, listens to the radio or hears music when another car passes by with their
stereo up. That almost makes sense as my only CD players are on my computers
(some times it's difficult to not write vulgarity that would even scare truck
drivers and sailors).
10) The scalpers who buy as many tickets as possible keeping honest fans from
seeing the shows they want, jacking up the prices then screwing the rest of the
fans. The music fans need to start turning your sorry asses in!!!
